Play-Doh is a modeling compound used by young children for art and craft projects at home and at school. Consisting of flour, water, salt, boric acid and mineral oil, the product was first manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, as a wallpaper cleaner in the 1930s [1] When a class of children began to use own wallpaper as composed of modeling, the product was reworked and marketed in the Cincinnati schools in mid 1950 Play-Doh was demonstrated at an education conference in 1956 and opened the first department store retail accounts plan. [2] The ads that promote Play-Doh on television influences children shows in 1957 to promote product sales. [1] Since its launch on the toy market in the mid-1950s, Play-Doh has generated a considerable amount of ancillary products such as Fun Factory. [3] In 2003, the Association of Toy Industries called Play-Doh in its "Century of Toys List".
